How to Keep Leaves Out of Your Downpipes

Do downpipes for your gutters keep filling up with leaves? Maybe you have pipes leading to a rainwater tank and you are concerned leaves might get stuck in the pipework or finding their way into your tank? Or perhaps you don’t want your stormwater drainage pipes clogging up with leaves and gunk. Don’t worry, there is a rather simple and easy to install solution that is inexpensive.

Rain heads, also referred to as “Leaf Eaters”, are a head piece designed to fit at the top of piping. The rain head forms the screened entry point to the top of pipework. The rain head at the top of this pipework is therefore normally used below an open downpipe from your gutter. As water flows onto the head piece, leaves, sticks, insects and the like are deflected allowing only fresh rainwater to pass through.
